Can we ever imagine the comforts of our modern life without acknowledging the role that engineering has played? There is almost no aspect of human life that is untouched by the marvels of engineering. The works of engineering have altered our lives completely. From the time that we get up in the morning till the time we sleep, we use numerous machines that in fact have become an indispensable part of our lifestyle. If we cursorily start counting the by-products of engineering that directly impact our lives, the number is sure to touch the hundred mark in no time!
Engineering as a career is quite popular with the Indian student population, and lakhs of students appear for engineering entrance exams every year. If you think that you are innovative and you also like gadgets and technology then engineering is your call. If you choose to study engineering after your school, there are enough fields to specialize in. However, when students think of taking up engineering as their career choice, they are just familiar with the common specializations like electronics, computer science, mechanical etc. But all you engineering aspirants out there will be amazed to know that unconventional areas in engineering such as marine engineering, genetic engineering, polymer engineering etc are also equally rewarding.

Completing class XII with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is a must. Aspirants have to then appear for a Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) that is conducted by CBSE for gaining admission into India’s top engineering colleges. CBSE’s JEE is conducted in two parts i.e. JEE Mains and JEE advance. If aspirants wish to gain admission into National Institute of Technology commonly known as NITs or IITs i.e. Indian Institutes of Information Technology or CFTIs that is Central Funded Technical Institute and other institutes of this league, then they have to appear for the first exam that is JEE Mains. However if they wish to gain admission into Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad then they have to appear for JEE Advance.
JEE Main exam has two papers that include questions in MCQ format. Paper-1 is in both online and offline mode and is basically for admission into B.Tech courses whereas Paper-2 is an offline exam for admission in to courses such as B.Arch or B.Planning. For all those students who clear JEE-Mains exam and make it to the league of the top 20 percentile in their class 12th board examination can appear for JEE-Advanced examination.
